Scribe's Takeover Part 2 / Memphis Bummin'

I am leaving tomorrow to help my parents close on their house in Memphis and to take the twins to Memphis so that their father (my ex-husband) will pick them up and spend the rest of the summer with them in ATL. I am also going to survey the new neighborhood(s) Scribe and I will moving to by December. I need to pick up applications for the both of us for the University of Memphis and also narrow down my three choices for a wedding dress and put them (mine and the twins) on layaway (yes I believe in laying ish away). C has a bunch of wedding ideas ...and we will begin my wedding planner notebook together. I will be extra busy....

But

I love my boyfriend and these are his words.

MEMPHIS BUMMIN'

5 a.m. Tommorrow - Diva leaves for Memphis, TN

She's taking the kids.

I'm bummin.

For the last 2.5 months I have had the pleasure of being the male presence in the lives of Diva's children. We have gone to Dorney Park, to Bear Mountain park, to various barbecues, and pools. We have eaten ice cream way before breakfast, taken saturday morning trips to Mickey D's, danced to hip hop, watched cartoons..(The "X's" is dope. "Cars" was...aiight). While my time with the twins has been short, it has been amazingly fulfulling. I guess I just didn't figure they would actually accept me so easily. I don't why I felt that way either, I work for the welfare of children. As a foster child I had the experience of living both in the Good Times household, and the Cosby show household.
(I've often thought of Bill when dealing with the children....WWBD...What Would Bill Do??).
I think what the twins see in me is patience. I don't raise my voice, I am not condescending, and I'm not distant. I believe in the give and take approach: I giveth plenty...should you exhibit a pattern of unacceptable behavior...I taketh away quickly. I have gotten peeved when I thought they were behaving as children sometimes do...spoiled. But even then I always go back to one single important factor...They're 7.
They are going to be with their natural father. That's a good thing. Children need their fathers. I was asked if I was jealous about that...are you kidding??? I wish I could visit my father, I wish I could just say 'Hi, I'm Scribe." "Dad, what do you think Eli's gonna be like this year?"...anything. See, mine died when I was a year old. He was hit by "D" train on 167th Street, in the Bronx. Jealous? Nah. A little envious maybe.

Actually, what I explained to the both of them was that:
1. I was not there to replace their father
2. It was okay to call me by my first name
3. I would never harm them, so they needn't be afraid of me.
4. They could trust me as much as their mother does.
Oh, and that I plan to be the coolest step-pops ever. What! No seriously. I try to encourage them, but I need to do a better job at that. Diva has warned that there is a disconnect between step-parents and step-children. Biology has a lot to do with that disconnect. So one of things I said I was going to do was encourage reading alot more than I have. I've bought books, but when the school year hits, I'd like to have a nice little library for them.
I've tried in these months to treat the children to a guy who really loves the idea and practice of parenting. I have none of my own. I will say this, if I did have twins or any of my own...they'd never have to travel far to get to me...I'd never leave them....never. I once thought I'd be a single father, adopt on my own, but Diva has all but killed that idea. She wants boys...twins. (uh.. I didn't say all that lol) Whoa. I'm wit' it though.
Diva will be back on Monday(uh sorry baby Tuesday)...no...no parties at Scribe's house. I shall be working, Flipping between CNN and ESPN, getting some much needed sleep, and maybe if its not 1 billion degrees out, catch a Yankee game at the stadium. I love the three newest women in my life. It is a love that is growing daily. A love I hope never stops growing. I hope you all join me in praying for their safe delivery. I hope you all join me in praying that the twins have a wonderful experience, I hope you all join me in praying that Diva is successful in her efforts which are indeed of much importance.
Yeah I'm bummin' a little but I'll be alright.

WORLDWIDE WEDNESDAYS

Yeah I know you were looking forward to the Polygamy Post...and it's coming...I actually found some pictures of me in full He.brew gear....I figured you'd like to see those too...so give me a minute...aight? However there are just somethings that I need to talk about globally...

Fools in Space

NASA should be disbanded. Shut Down! A colossal waste of time and money...Watching a space shuttle launch has now become like watching a suspense film.

"Will it blow up this time?"...."Will something fall off?"

Seemed like all of the Star Trek writers had a better idea of how to run a space mission. What strikes me as most incredible is the fact that although they know that the space shuttle and all of it's equipment were manufactured way back in the 70's....they are still surprised when a piece of foam breaks off or there are cracks in the metal...

Does anybody still have any electronic equipment from the 70's in their house? one of the those huge tape decks? A 8 track player perhaps?

Hell NO!

Is anybody driving a 1976 Pinto 3 million miles a day?

Hell No!

So how in the world does NASA a billion dollar agency put so much trust and hope and frigging money into a hulking dinosour like the Space Shuttle they just sent to the station? Makes no daggon sense

which brings me to India...I was going to talk about their hopes of a space program being dashed to the ground when their biggest satellite blew up up right after the launch...and how it destroyed any short term goals of direct to homes satellite TV but then this train stuff happened...

I'll take the bus thanks!

India has just experienced another attack from the Kashmiri rebels. They haven't confirmed it was them but I'm sure that they will take responsibilty for the seven blasts that killed over 200 people. It's a shame...Have you ever seen an image of an Indian train at rush hour? They pack it in to the point where folks are hanging out the windows and the sides...So the death toll will probably rise much higher than the reported 200 as of this morning...I was a little upset because although I don't know any Indians in India personally...I am sure that many of the people I talk to on my job's IT support helpline are located in India...and in that area since I work for a financial company and Mumbai is the financial capital of India. It was reported that all of our employees were safe...so I can breath a little better but I cannot be playing with Public Transportation. For real...

I'll Show You a Fourth Of July Rocket!

By now most of you have heard about North Korea's fireworks display/missile launch. All I was really concerned about was could they have hit America?... No? ...Oh well ..back to the BBQ....However, everybody in Asia is outraged and Japan is livid. Since WWII, Japan has been prevented from keeping a full size military army. What they do have is a self defense force of about 200,000 folks. The Japanese have been living peacefully (with us) since the last bomb dropped on Hiroshima...but with them North Koreans blasting off into the Sea of Japan everytime they want to flex a little muscle is a real problem to the Japanese. And we cannot forget that the North Koreans have nuclear technology. Or at least the folks in office don't want us to forget. On a serious note....a lot of countries have this technology now. Is it right for America to dictate who can have it and who can't? What gives America the right to decide for the world?

WE Can Have Them...But You Can't!

Want to hear something surprising? Back to India for a moment. They have Nuclear Tech....and they stay blasting off missile tests...short range and long range....that's got to be disconcerting to their neighbors in Pakistan whom they have had a long feud with. India refused to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty...in fact... India, Israel and Pakistan all refused to sign the treaty. North Korea pulled out 3 years ago. As a matter of fact the US is trying to figure out how to resume nuclear trade with India:

"Under the deal, the United States would give vital help to the Indian civilian nuclear program, including uranium for fuel for civilian reactors. The United States would not provide any fuel for Indian weapons, but critics have pointed out that it would essentially free the limited Indian uranium supplies for weapons production. The agreement contains no restriction on how much or how fast India could increase the size of its nuclear arsenal."

So very soon India could have nuclear ballistic missiles....That makes the people over in Pakistan very nervous...long standing enemies...The Indian and Pakistanis have been test firing missiles mainly to show each other they are capable of killing off most of each other's population...Can you say "Who's D*ck is bigger?" I can....

Putin hits back Hard!

Our beloved Vice President Chaney loves to talk crap about other countries...oh he thinks he can say whatever it is he wants to and folks have to listen...Well somebody forgot to send Putin the memo..."

"Cheney, in a May speech in the ex-Soviet republic of Lithuania, accused Russia of cracking down on religious and political rights and of using its energy reserves as "tools of intimidation or blackmail."

Putin responded with: "I think the statements of your vice president of this sort are the same as an unsuccessful hunting shot."

oooooooooo...now that's gangsta!

The interesting thing is there is another G-8 summit coming up and the Europeans (and Americans) want Russia under control...meaning free trade, democracy and all that jazz...But the Russians have their own agenda. As well they should...they are the ones responsible for running their country...but what the Europeans are mostly worried about is Russia's resources that the Europeans are dependent on...namely gas....One English official named Edward McMillan-Scott, said Russia represented "a threat to Europe's stability and security." and "It is a country led by a regime that is selfish, corrupt and which is unreliable,"

Wait.... I almost got confused...is he talking about Russia or America?...Oh...

We Want Them to Work but We Don't Want Them Here!

Seems like the Europeans have the same problem with Africans that Americans have with Mexicans....Can't stop 'em from coming....I wrote about this before concerning Italy's low population rate and how they needed the Africans to sustain the economy and pump money in for the elderly...but of course they are not the only ones with a "African overflow". Look at the issues occuring in France and Germany....being homogenized for so long...they just can't deal correctly with race mixing...Don't look over here at America....we never lied to our blacks and told them they were equal like France and Belgium did...I think this is just colonialism coming back to bite them in the buttocks. Think about it...I break into your house and take over everything you own including your land and children...then I leave years later taking all of the money and set up my house and land better than you had yours....Of course you gonna wanna come to where I am...That's where all your money is! Offering Africans loans and grants to get businesses started in Africa will have no effect if there aren't established European contracts to buy those goods from those African who started the businesses.

To the Left...to the Left...

Some time ago I told you to keep an eye out for the Mexican elections. Well they happened and of course there was some controversy...like I (and many others) predicted. This a battle that is far from over

We Can Teach Ourselves!

Bolivia's education minister called for an end to religious education in the country's schools, drawing criticism from the Roman Catholic Church which could see its schools affected by the proposed change. As President Morales moves closer to a separation between church and state...his education minister sees problems with the long standing affected superiority a religious education confers. Patzi says that religious education is "useless" and suggested that catechism classes now taught in schools could be replaced by a non-denominational course on the history of religion.

Freed women

As the last story in today's post...I wanted to highlight some of the problems women around the world face. In Pakistan, 130 women were freed from prison. They were released on bail for crimes such as murder, attempted murder and adultery. The article says:

" women can be sentenced to death by stoning if found guilty of having sex outside of marriage. Drinking is punishable by 80 lashes, and theft is punishable with the amputation of the right hand."

Kinda makes me happier to be here...you too right?

Do you follow the rules? Oh...

Missed me?

Many of you have read little clips here and there about my time with the Hebrews. I guess it’s way past time to shed a little light on that. I was 23 when I first came into contact. Well not true…a true New Yorker has walked past them several times if they frequented 40 duece (read 42nd st) to go to the movies and Broadway. The Brothers screaming at folks when they walk by. Proclaiming the the Negro, Hispanics and Native Americans are the true 12 tribes of Israel and the the other races are heathens..and they could prove this and more with the scriptures of the Bible. Long story short (you have to buy the book) I spent about 7 years immersed in and studying their doctrine.

It struck me as strange after all the years of reading the Bible and growing up in the C (ogic) religion…that the C doctrine followed some of the rules in the Bible and not all of them. I think it was my confusion concerning this that may have led me to accept a doctrine that was much more rigid. Perhaps it was love and faith. In either case neither the Hebrews nor the Hebrew proved themselves self true. I know this now thanks to Scribe …My baby has shown me love and dedication Like I have never ever known …this relationship has got to be heaven sent….I Love You Baby!…but when I joined I was intrigued by their heavy literal translation of the Bible….Like these are the rules…follow them and we getting into heaven! I was like “Bet! Show me the rules!” Well there were about 600 rules from the Old Testament….now that’s a lot of rules….and we followed the New Testament too…about another 300 if you count all the letters Paul was sending back and forth to the those unruly Christians….

Part of me wondered why we wasn’t sacrificing too….since that was in the rules…but when I asked that question…they looked at me like I was a spy or an idiot LOL

I have always been an inquisitive person. Over 600 instructions on what to wear, how to act and what to say and how to say it. When told there are rules, I have always tried to look into the what and whys. I guess that’s why I made such a bad Israelite. My Hebrew name was Talashamayam (I still can’t spell that right). It means “Dew from Heaven”. But what The Brothers really wanted to call me...and did amongst themselves was the “Rebellious One”. They had so many rules gleaned from the Bible to talk about what a woman could or could not do like in Corinthians and Leviticus… For example in 1st Corinthians it says:

1 Corinthians 11

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

Ok…so when they asked me to cover my head while I was praying and when I came to the school….I was cool with it. I mean…it says it right there in the Bible…and supposedly I follow the Bible right?….Then dog gone it…I put my scarf on and followed the rules. I tried to get out of it…looking for loopholes in the law…like I usually do…(Which is why I’m actually thinking about Law School in Memphis…Uhm Scribe…let’s discuss)… During the scripture reading class I hit The Brothers (that what C always called the He.brews LOL) with another scripture to get out of wearing the scarf. I said:

Uhm, it says here in First Corinthians, chapter 11, verse 15… But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering….uhm my hair is down my shoulders….and some Spanish sisters have very long hair….so we should be given a reprive on the scarf thing….uh…sir

They looked at me like I was a spy or an idiot….Whispered amongst themselves..asked me if I had hair down to my feet…and upon my reply of no…told me the definition on long…had a scripture to back it up and dismissed my question.

Summary of a Flashback

I dressed in costume…along with the rest of the women. I was often accused of being to “Diva-ish” with it. As a matter of fact….The Second Wife hit me with a scripture in a conversation once…I was the First Wife of course…Don’t ever get that twisted! LOL….Second Wife said: “Uhm, First Wife He.brew Diva, you should remember Proverb 31:30…Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised”

I was like “No this chick did not try to cut me with a scripture!” I had to be quick on the comeback yall…so I came back on “My dear Second Wife, we must remember verse 25… Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. I can’t help it that I like my clothing to reflect that…you should too!”

End Scene

But she was right though…I couldn’t admit that then but in 1st Timothy 2:9 it clearly states:

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Question: How many of us are following this?

Now I attend a Black Pentacostal-like church and not once have I heard that we should cover our heads when we pray…have you?. But Paul said it right? So we should be following it. I know I haven’t done it since I left The Brothers. I wear a hat or something…but it’s not mandatory.

Question: Do any of you women out there actually follow this rule? Do you currently cover your head when you attend church or when you pray?

It is a rule…yet many of us do not follow it…why is it we follow some rules in the New Testament but not all? And who is the judge over which rules we follow and which ones we don’t? In that very same book of Corinthians it says

1st Corinthians 14
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Dang…we can’t say nothing?

Now when I was with The Brothers…I didn’t really have a problem with this. It was clearly stated in the rules and I wanted to follow the rules of Christ. I believed as many of us do…that Paul was an apostle gifted with the Holy Ghost and was speaking the true words of Christ when he was writing those churches and giving them rules on how to be a good Christian….So when told that I would be sitting separately from the men in The Brothers Temple…and I would probably not be saying a word unless permitted….I did it. But when I got a chance to speak…I made it count!

Let some pastor try to tell a woman in a Black Pentacostal church that scripture now. That she can’t speak in church…she can’t praise the Lord….or preach the gospel. Ha! You better jump back cause his head will be rolling down the center aisle!

Oh wait…I have an even better one

1st Timothy 2: 12
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Hmmm..... how would the women in today’s churches deal with that one. All the evangelists, missionaries, so-called prophetesses and even the Sunday school teachers? I mean it’s clearly in the rules right? How do we explain that away…That it shouldn’t be relevant in today’s society? I mean I’m sure it’s possible to lend an interpretation to it….I mean I tend to stick with the King James version of the Bible…some of you prefer the New Living Translation...or the NIV or the Amp. Bible (click for your version)….that’s cool…but it says pretty much the same thing…women shouldn’t be saying much in the church….much less preaching or teaching …and honestly if you try to explain it away…you are really leaning toward this scripture (click for understanding)

I’m not trying to say I want to be with The Brothers again…Lawd no! I’m cool with following the C doctrine. All I’m asking is…how do we discern which rules to follow? …or not to follow?….like the ones above….and which ones do we judge others by…. and we don't even acknowledge this one... and that decision was made and presented...right baby? We getting married in Memphis next July...Crimson and Cream....Diva and Scribe for life.......If you care to discuss I welcome an off line conversation...

I'm glad I did spend the Time with The Brothers....I learned a lot about the Bible and doctrine following...almost as much as I learned in all of my Theology classes and Philoshphy....that’s all I’m saying….

I’m feeling like posting more scriptures and flashbacks….

Stay tuned for a slice of my experience in Polygamy…
